Why am I writing this poem?

I don't know what to write
So I'll just write what comes to mind
I hate poetry
But I have to
It's for school...
So, this counts, right?

Why would you write this?
What is the point?
I just don't get it.

Joy

The birds sing and swoop through the valleys
The fish glide freely,
Singing.
Flowers bloom proud
Kittens purr with content
Puppies jump and yip in gleeful tones
Kites soar higher in the crisp autumn sky
Bright with joy,
Joy.
A song of songs!

Monkey Trouble (Jesus Freak)

There's a monkey, he lives in Denmark
As he swings through the trees he thinks of bananas
But he thinks too hard and begins to fall
"Where did the branch go... Oh no! I'm going down!"

This monkey's name is Job
And he just doesn't get it yet
His mother and his dad are really worried for him
They think he needs some aid but they don't know where to find it at
Eventually he will grow up,
Eventually he will fit in
And Job will swing like normal-- one day.

Ode to Mud

Oh, Mud
You are the sustenance of a green tomato
You provide water to the soil
Containing my juicy melons.
Oh mud, you provide such fun
For children of all ages
Gushy and wet,
Shploop!
You fall to the ground
In a satisfactory way
Never thinking twice.

Ode to Sunlight

Oh Sunlight
You light up my world
Bring life to my peers
Golden rays of goodness
Vitamin D delivered in a
glittering golden package
Tanner by the minute
To the point of burn
And UV, carcinogens.
Without you,
Oh sunlight,
The human race
Would come to a halt,
Wilted and gray;
Lifeless.
Oh sunlight,
Do not stop
Doing good deeds,
Giving precious life.

Dragon

The dragon is here
And all who see, fear

The beauty that comes
The monster's heart numbed

She deftly uncoils
Showing marks of her toils

Colors of cherry and wine
With details exquisitely fine

Dazzling flames
Wild, untamed

This beauty that comes
Her seekers succumb
